The Containment Field of All Things
By John R. Gavazzoni
The containment field of all things is a Person, or rather we might say, the Person of all personhood. "In Him (Paul wrote), were all things created, and in HIM, all things consist," that is, they cohere, hold together, have their unity, their mutuality of existence. Oh, the grandeur of that Person, God's Son, the Word. He was the speaking of God that brought all creation into existence, and has held the whole together faithfully since that beginning. God spoke, and within His speaking, within that Logos/Word, all things, the whole, became.
In the world of formal theology, that Christ, the Son, is often referred to as The Cosmic Christ, i.e., the en-Christed, pre-incarnate Son of God. I remember the moment clearly, when the Spirit of Truth revealed a wonder of wonders to me, i.e., that when the pre-incarnate Son within whom all things have their shared existence, became the Man, Jesus of Nazareth, that He lost nothing of reality of being the containment field of all things. Yes; when the Son of God came into the world as a Man....better as the Man of all manhood, He, that singular Person still remained in Seed-form/seminally, the containment field of all things
He, within whom all things were created, came into His Father's world as the essence of all things. We might say that in His incarnate form He was the DNA of all things. From the moment of His human birth what everything is in essence was bound to His human experience at the essence/DNA level. Indeed, what everything is essentially existed in Him incarnate.
All nature remained in the same condition from the death passed on to all men by Adam's disobedience, except that, hidden within that One Man, their essence was beginning to undergo a transformation, a transformation involving The Divine Journey, or as my dear friend, Ed Browne, after a long discussion between us remarked, "you're talking about the Godyssey." Interestingly, supportively, we have in Jonathan Mitchell's Translation of the New Testament, the fourteenth chapter of John, opening with, "and if I journey on..."
Everything at the essence/DNA level was changed in the human experience of Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, the Son of God, from incarnation, through the whole experience of His life on earth, with its joys and suffering, finally His death and resurrection leading to His glorification. Now, that is the Reality of all things seminally. This is implied by Paul calling Jesus in Galatians, the one Seed. On the Isle of Patmos, Jesus said to St. John, "behold, I make all things new." Actually, in the Greek, it's ".......I am making all things new."
How? He, the Seed-essence of all things, has been planted into all earthiness, and the whole treasure of who He was, who He existentially became in His human experience, and, "in due time" that treasure within our earthiness, our creaturehood, is being released to unfold in all its glory, until God is all in all. This is what Paul was writing about, extolling, "Christ, in you, the hope of glory."
It's been done, dear saints. It's entirely complete, finished.....put an exclamation point on that in your mind. What's being done by Christ in you is what has been done by all things in Him. I think, in all humility, I've offered a peek-perspective on the mystery hidden from ages past. It's predestined: forth from out of all things, their/our Sonship essence shall shine through all eternity.
